Hermann Recht
Hermann Recht History -as related to Mark Rabideau by Luise (Senger) Rabideau (H. Recht’s grand daughter) on 9 Jan 2006
- Recht’s Hussar Photo is from Stolp WestPreussen/ OstPreussen
- Hermann came from a very poor family.
- He was sent away from home to make his fortune; his plan was to go to Russia and settle with Germans there.
- On his journey, he stopped on the Kunz farm just after the owner/ father was buried; he took this opportunity to marry Auguste Kunz (the farmer’s daughter).
- Upon marriage he assumed all Kunz family property rights and embarked on a program which ultimately ended in the loss of all Kunz wealth; he and his family ultimately ended with holding a small piece of land in Pietzkendorf Westpreussen (near Danzig)
- Frieda (Recht) Senger- his daughter- had little respect for her father; she viewed him as mean and without business-savvy.
- Auguste Kunz (Hermann’s first wife) died an invalid in 1918 after a long illness (she was bed ridden for years prior to her death)
- Hermann remarried; his second wife (name unknown) was previously a consort of the Kaiser
- She was thrown in the river near the Senger farm in Zeyer by Soviet forces during their occupation.
- Hermann died trying to rescue her from the Nogat River.
- He is buried in an unmarked grave on the old Senger farm in Zeyer.
